Gabrielyan has worked at Mail.ru Group since 2001 (in 2021 the company changed its name to the VK brand, which is part of its ecosystem), at first he was a system administrator and Unix developer.
In 2003, Gabrielyan headed the technical support of the Mail.ru Mail service, and since 2005 he has become vice president and technical director.
Since 2019, Gabrielyan has taken the post of First Deputy General Director of VK.
In March 2022, he joined the board of directors of the company.

On June 7, 2022, the press service of the VK company reported that Vladimir Gabrielyan and Sergey Merzlyakov were killed, Interfax reports.
“This morning it became known that Vladimir Gabrielyan and Sergey Merzlyakov died as a result of a tragic accident. We mourn with family, friends, and loved ones. Vladimir and Sergey will forever remain part of our team,” the message says.
The details of the incident were revealed in the Union of Reindeer Breeders of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
