Biography
Vadim Shishimarin was born on October 17, 2000, as he said in an interview with journalist Vladimir Zolkin.
The birthplace of Shishimarin indicated the city of Ust-Ilimsk, Irkutsk region, Russia.
He studied at school number 5 in Ust-Ilimsk, which he graduated in 2017.

Why Vadim Shishimarin was put on trial in Ukraine
Vadym Shishimarin is the first Russian soldier convicted of war crimes in Ukraine.
On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin staged an open large-scale military invasion of Ukraine: since then, Russian invaders have been bombing and shelling Ukrainian territories.
The Ukrainians are fighting back.
According to the Ukrainian investigation, on February 28, 2022, Vadim Shishimarin killed an unarmed resident of the village of Chupakhivka, Sumy region, Ukraine – 62-year-old Alexander Shelipov.
Shishimarin’s victim walked along the side of the road with a bicycle.
Subsequently, Shishimarin was taken prisoner by the Ukrainian military.
On May 4, 2022, the Security Service of Ukraine published a video with Shishimarin’s confession to the murder of Ukrainian civilians.
“I was ordered to shoot, and I fired one round at him, and he fell. We drove on,” the sergeant said in the video.
On May 11, 2022, the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office announced that the case of Vadym Shishimarin had been sent to a Ukrainian court.
On May 13, 2022, the Solomensky District Court of Kyiv charged Vadym Shishimarin under the article “Violation of the laws and customs of war” in accordance with the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Shishimarin faces from 10-15 years in prison to life imprisonment.
The defendant has been provided with a lawyer.
Prosecutor Yaroslav Ushchapovsky said that Vadim Shishimarin had admitted his guilt and was cooperating with the investigation.
On May 18, 2022, a court session was held with the participation of Shishimarin.
