In turn, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced that a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered the territory of the Graivoron urban district, which is part of the region.
“The armed forces of the Russian Federation, together with the border service, the Russian Guard, and the FSB, are taking the necessary measures to eliminate the enemy,” Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel.
“Vladimir Putin has been informed of an attempted breakthrough in the Belgorod Region,” Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“The purpose of the attack is to divert attention from the Bakhmut direction and minimize the political effect of the loss of the city. Now work is underway to squeeze out the DRG from Russian territory and destroy it. There are enough forces and means for this,” Peskov added.
