Biography

Anna Gutu is 32 years old.

She was born in Odesa region, Ukraine.

She became the first Ukrainian to reach the top of Lhotse.

She also became the first among Ukrainian climbers to climb Everest and Lhotse in one assault without an intermediate descent to the base camp.

She conquered 13 peaks 8 thousand meters high.

How Anna Gutu died

On October 7, 2023, The Himalayan Times reported that Anna Gutu died in an avalanche on Mount Shisha Pangma, China.

An avalanche struck the climbing route above 7,800 meters around 11:00 a.m. on October 7, killing Anna Gutu and her guide Mingmar Sherpa.

Another avalanche struck American climber Gina Marie and her guide Tenjen (Lama) Sherpa. They are considered missing.

“The incident occurred as Anna Gutu and Gina Marie were competing to become the first American women to summit all 14 peaks. The duo recently conquered the 13th peak, climbing Cho Oyu,” the publication notes.
