The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine explained why the Russian occupation troops blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.
This was written by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar in the telegram channel.
According to her, according to the available information, it became known that the Russian occupation troops are moving their most combat-ready units from the Kherson direction.
First of all, we are talking about such Russian occupation units as the Marines, airborne troops, and the 49th Army.
“Therefore, the goal of undermining the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by the Russians becomes obvious. So, taking into account their own losses and limited reserves, thus realizing the inability to contain the Ukrainian offensive in different directions, the command of the Russian occupation forces decided to “narrow down” the possible geography of active operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Malyar said.
According to her, the undermining of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station was apparently carried out on the basis of preventing the Ukrainian Defense Forces from carrying out an offensive in the Kherson direction and freeing up the necessary reserves for their transfer to the Zaporizhzhia and Bakhmut directions.
“Also, by destroying the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the Russian leadership is trying to divert part of the forces and resources of the Ukrainian Defense Forces to eliminate a man-made disaster, thereby making it impossible to liberate the occupied territories on the left-bank part of the Kherson region,” Maliar added.
