Denys Monastyrsky died – what is the cause of the accident

On the morning of January 18, 2023, it became known about the death of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denys Monastyrsky.

According to the head of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klymenko on Facebook, Monastyrsky crashed in a helicopter in Brovary, Kyiv region, Ukraine.

Freelance adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko named a number of versions of the causes of the helicopter accident:

– sabotage,

– equipment failure

– Violation of flight safety rules.

“The causes of the tragedy are being established by investigators. Whether it was a sabotage, a malfunction of equipment, a violation of flight safety rules, we will soon find out,” Gerashchenko wrote on Facebook.

As reported by Interfax-Ukraine, according to the press secretary of the command of the air forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat, the helicopter that crashed in the Kyiv region was a Super Puma AS 332 transferred by France.

According to him, now all power structures have such aircraft.

These helicopters were designed specifically for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

“They were also engaged in various special tasks, not only in the middle of the country but also closer to the fighting,” Yuri Ignat said.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in turn, reported that on January 18 at 08:20 in the city of Brovary, Kyiv region, a helicopter of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine EU-225 (tail number 54) crashed near the kindergarten.

A fire broke out, which was extinguished an hour later.

A nearby 14-story residential building and 3 cars were also damaged.

There were 9 people on board the helicopter: 6 people from the operational group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as 3 crew members of the State Emergency Service.

As a result of the emergency, as of 11:00, according to the State Emergency Service, 15 people died, including 3 children.
25 people were injured (including 15 adults and 10 children), and hospitalized in hospitals.
