Biography

Svetlana Babaeva was born on June 24, 1972, in Moscow, Russia.

Graduated from the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University.

She worked in the Moscow News newspaper in the economics department, then in the Izvestia newspaper, and headed the politics department.

She was the head of the representative office of RIA Novosti in the UK.

After returning from London, she worked as deputy editor-in-chief at the Moscow News newspaper, then as editor-in-chief of the Profile magazine.

In 2008-2012 she was the editor-in-chief of the RIA Novosti bureau in the USA.
