Is Fastly to blame for Reddit, GitHub, Twitch, Spotify, The Guardian, The New York Times, BBC crashes

Resource sites Reddit, GitHub, Twitch, Spotify, The Guardian, The New York Times, BBC stopped opening for some time on June 8, 2021.

The problem was related to a malfunction of the Fastly CDN provider, which provides the above resources.

Fastly reported the issue at 09:58 UTC.

“Investigating – We’re currently investigating potential impact to performance with our CDN services,” the message says.

At 10:57 UTC, Fastly made the fix.

“Monitoring – The issue has been identified and a fix has been applied. Customers may experience increased origin load as global services return, ”the message says.
